General Questions

Q: Where are you located?
A: The Houston Driving School is located at 11303 Chimney Rock Ste. 100 Houston, TX 77035.

Q: How do I use Google Checkout?
A: Google Checkout makes online shopping quick and easy – now you can buy items from stores across the web, in just a few steps. And you won't have to enter your billing and shipping information each and every time you shop online! Here's how it works: You find something you'd like to purchase from a store that accepts Google Checkout. When you're ready to complete your purchase, click the Google Checkout button. You'll need to log in to your Google account, or create one if you haven't already.

Q: Is Google Checkout Safe?
A: Google Checkout allows you to make purchases online safely and with confidence. Google's fraud protection policy covers you from unauthorized purchases made through Google Checkout and your purchase history or credit card information is not shared with the Houston Driving School. Your email address is also not shared with the Houston Driving School.

Q: How secure are my transactions and account information?
Your payment information and shipping address are saved in your Google Account to make future purchases more convenient and secure for you. Google guarantees that: Your account information is stored on their secure servers. Your purchase information is encrypted during transmission with industry-standard SSL (secure socket layer) technology. Google doesn't share your credit card number with the Houston Driving School. Google won't disclose personally identifiable information about your purchase history to advertisers or merchants.

Q: What information does Google share with the Houston Driving School?
A: Google will not sell or rent your personal information or purchase history to third parties. When you make a purchase through Google Checkout, they may share portions of your credit card number with the Houston Driving School to identify the transaction, but they don't share your full credit card number. When you make a purchase, the Houston Driving School will have access to your shipping address and your email address, if you decide to share it.

Q: How much does it cost to use Google Checkout?
A: You're only responsible for paying for your purchases, including taxes and delivery fees (if applicable). You won't be charged any additional costs for making a purchase through Google Checkout.

Defensive Driving Questions

Q: I'm not sure if I'm eligible to take defensive driving. How do I find out?
A: The State of Texas allows you take a defensive driving course to dismiss a ticket once every 12 months. However, you should ALWAYS verify with your court before completing a driving safety course. Just be sure to take care of it BEFORE your assigned court date or due date. Some tickets can not be dismissed by taking a defensive driving course or without court permission. If you have any questions regarding this matter please be sure to call us at 713-551-2073.

Q: What is the operation and conduct policy?
A: No credit or completion will be given if the course is completed by anyone other than you or if you are assisted by an outside party. When you enroll in the course you are stating under penalty of perjury that you, and not another person, studied the material in its entirety and completed the final exam. By registering for the course, you understand that is may be a felony to make false statements or to falsify documents submitted by the court.

Q: Where is the Classroom Defensive Driving course taught?
A: The Houston Driving School offers its Classroom Defensive Driving program at our office. We are located at 11303 Chimney Rock at West Bellfort Suite 100, Houston, TX 77035. Classes are offered every day M-F. See the Defensive Driving page for more information and times.

Q: How long is the class?
A: The class is six (6) hours long total and may be completed in parts. You will have several breaks to use the restroom or get snacks during that time.

Q: Is there a test?
A: Yes, you will take a final exam at the end of the class. Do not worry about passing, you will have up to three (3) attempts to take the final exam.

Q: How much does the class cost?
A: The Classroom Defensive Driving course costs only $30.00 for ticket dismissal and insurance discount.

Q: How do I sign up?
A: There is no need to register in advance for our Classroom Defensive Driving course. You can just show up on the day of class with your Texas Driver’s License, your court information, and your payment. However, our classes do fill up fast. To secure yourself a spot in the class as soon as possible, you can register for the class in advance by making payment online. Your spot is not guaranteed unless payment has been made. Be sure to bring a copy of your payment receipt with you to class. Call us for class schedule and availability at 713-551-2073.

Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: If you choose to pay online, you can make your payment with a credit or debit card using Google Checkout or Paypal. If you are uncomfortable submitting your payment online, you can pay for the class in person with cash or money order (no personal checks).

Q: How long does it take for my certificate to be delivered?
A: Your certificate will be mailed the next business day, it will take a few business days for you to receive it. We also have notary service available for an additional $5.00.

Q: Do you send my certificate directly to the court?
A: No, we send the certificate directly to the student.

Q: What is the course completion policy?
A: You must complete all phases of the approved curriculum in order to receive a certificate of completion. Any time missed must be made up. The school is prohibited from issuing a certificate of completion if the student has not met all the requirements for course completion and a student shall not accept a certificate under such circumstances.

Q: What is your refund policy for classroom instruction defensive driving?
A: The Houston Driving School offers refunds only to those who have paid for the class in advance but did not attend any portion of the class. If you paid for the class and were present for any period of time, the course fee is non-refundable. If you fail to complete the class for any reason and do not make it up or do not pass the final exam, the class tuition is also non-refundable.

Q: I need another copy of my certificate. How can I get one?
A: If you have lost your certificate or it contains incorrect information, you may contact us at 713-551-2073 or come by our office in person.

Teen Driving School Questions

Q: Do teens need to take a driver's education course?
A: Persons under 18 years of age must take an official driver's education course as required by the State of Texas to obtain a driver's license. Persons over 18 can obtain an instructional permit by passing a written exam and then obtain a driver's license after taking a driving test with a state trooper at the DPS. To avoid any confusion please visit the
Texas Department of Public Safety to answer any other questions regarding the laws of obtaining a driver license for your teen in Texas.

Q: Where do I take the permit test?
A: You can take the permit test at the DPS or with the Houston Driving School.

Q: I already took the classroom portion of the driver's education program at another school, can I take behind-the-wheel instruction only?
A: Yes, Houston Driving School allows you to take just the driving portion of the class. Students can begin scheduling driving times when they present their completed classroom record and transfer the DE 964 certificate over to the Houston Driving School.

Q: What is your refund policy for teen driver's education?
A: Refund computations will be based on actual instruction received through the last date of attendance. The effective date of the termination for refund purposes will be the earliest of the following: (a) the last day of attendance, if the student is terminated by the school; (b) the date of receipt of written notice from the student; or (c) the 10th school day following the last day of attendance. If tuition is collected in advance of entrance and, ** if after the expiration of the 72-hour cancellation privilege, the student does not enter school, terminates enrollment, or withdraws, the school may retain up to $50 as administrative expenses; and, from the remainder, shall refund that portion of the classroom tuition and fees and behind-the-wheel tuition and fees for services not previously received by the student. Refunds for items of extra expense to the student, including instructional supplies, books, laboratory fees, service charges, rentals, deposits, and all other such ancillary miscellaneous charges, will be made within 30 days after the effective date of enrollment termination if these items are stated separately and shown as part of the data furnished the student before enrollment. A full refund of all tuition and fees is due and refundable in each of the following cases: (a) when an enrollee is not accepted by the school; (b) if the course of instruction is discontinued by the school at this location; or (c) if the student's enrollment was procured as a result of any misrepresentation in advertising, promotional materials of the school, or misrepresentation by the owner or representation of the school. Refunds shall be completed within 30 days after the effective date of termination.

Adult Driving School Questions

Q: Do I have to take driver education?
A: No, adults are not required to take driver education. In order to obtain a license; however, adults must pass a written test over the Texas Driver's Handbook and an eye exam to obtain a driving permit. Once a permit is obtained, adults must pass a driving test with a State Trooper at the DPS office in order to obtain their final license.

Q: How do I prepare for the permit test?
A: You can study the Texas Driver Handbook on your own or enroll in our 1 day permit class. The class is EVER Saturday from 9am-3pm. Call us at 713-551-2073 for class schedule and availability. You can take both the permit test and the eye exam at our office. We will forward your paperwork to the DPS and will then give you your permit as soon as we receive it.

Q: How do I prepare for the driving test?
A: To prepare for the driving test students are encouraged to take driving lessons with us. We will work around your schedule! See the

Q: What if I don't have a car?
A: NO PROBLEM! We will pick you up and take you home for only $25 if you live inside the Beltway 8 Loop and $35 if you live outside the Beltway 8 Loop. Students who live within 2 miles of our office can be picked up and returned home for free. If you took driving lessons with us, we will even let you take your driving test at the DPS in our vehicle for only $25 per half hour (1 hour minimum).
