Let's Keep Texas Clean and Safe!

Teen Driver Education

Description

The Houston Driving School offers instruction to help teenage drivers drive confidently but safely using their best judgment in all kinds of traffic. We recognize that younger students acquire driving skills differently and more easily compared to adults. We are also aware of teenagers’ eagerness to obtain their license. However, we value human life as precious and instill in our students understanding of their responsibility as drivers. The curriculum we utilize focuses on safe and defensive driving practices, with a constant emphasis on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.

Pre-requisites:
Student must be under 18 years of age and at least 15 years old to begin taking driver's education to obtain a learner's permit. Student must hold a learner's permit for at least 6 months before license.

We offer both on-the-road and classroom instruction.

  • Classroom Instruction:
The goal of our in-class program is to prepare our students for their behind-the-wheel instruction. Through continuous practice, our students are expected to acquire the knowledge of traffic regulations and signs, as well as become aware of the importance of responsible and safe driving practices in any type of weather conditions. In the classroom, we utilize comprehensive and well-illustrated manuals and instructional video programs. Our instructors are always well-prepared and motivated, creating high-quality personalized learning experience.

  • Behind the Wheel Instruction:
Our on-the-road instruction is done by highly-qualified, TEA-certified instructors in comfortable compact vehicles, specifically equipped with additional mirrors and brakes necessary for driving training. Our students progress from simple maneuvers and driving in safe areas (such as parking lots or ranges) to driving on busier urban streets and finally on highways. We do our best to accommodate our students and their families individual schedules.
Full Driver Education Course - $339

Students and parents who want to trust all of the headaches and paperwork to us can sign up for the full driver's education course as required by the State of Texas. The full course includes the state required 32 hours of Classroom Instruction and 14 hours Behind the Wheel Instruction. Also included is the Drug and Alcohol Driver Awareness Program (DADAP). DADAP addresses the misconceptions teens have about the mixture of alcohol, youth, and driving ability.

  • No DPS lines - we do all the work for you with our optional Permit Service (only $30 extra)

Please note that the Behind the Wheel Instruction and Classroom Instruction do not run concurrently. The student or parent will need to schedule driving times separately. Driving times are two hours in length and attendance requirements are strictly observed by the Texas Education Agency.
