Description
The Houston Driving School offers instruction to help teenage drivers drive confidently but safely using their best judgment in all kinds of traffic. The curriculum we utilize focuses on safe and defensive driving practices, with a constant emphasis on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and other drugs.
Pre-requisites:
Student must be under 18 years of age and at least 15 years old to begin taking driver's education to obtain a learner's permit. Students must hold a learner's permit for 6 months before being able to obtain a driver license. Students are also required to take a written test and a road test to obtain their licenses.
Full Driver Education Course - $369
The full course includes the State Required 32 hours of Classroom Instruction and 14 hours Behind the Wheel Instruction and Permit Service. Also included is the Drug and Alcohol Driver Awareness Program (DADAP). DADAP addresses the misconceptions teens have about the mixture of alcohol, youth, and driving ability.

Required Documents for Driving
Permit:
- the student's original birth certificate, State ID, or US Passport (can not be expired). If the student is a US citizen but was not born in the US, you MUST also bring the student's naturalization certificate.
- the student's original social security card
- verification of enrollment (VOE) form from the high school
- $15 cash or check (made out to TX DPS)
Classroom instruction is held Monday through Friday for 3 weeks as per the schedule posted. The final class is always held on the 3rd Saturday.
Please note that the Behind the Wheel Instruction and Classroom Instruction do not run back to back. The student or parent will need to schedule driving times separately. The driving times can be scheduled seven days a week by appointment only. Driving times are two hours in length and attendance requirements are strictly observed by the Texas Education Agency.
