Adult Permit Class
Why stand in line at the DPS? Save yourself time and hassle by enrolling in our Adult Permit Class and get your driving permit with us! We will do all the work for you, all you have to do is enroll in the class and show up. The class costs only $139. Upon completion of the class and passing the permit test you will receive your driving permit in 3 business days.
Classes are held EVERY Saturday from 9am - 3pm and you can even take the test in English or Spanish!!
The Permit class is for adults over the age of 18. Although the class is not required by state law, persons seeking to obtain a Texas Driver's License must pass a test over the Texas Driver Handbook to receive a driving permit before being eligible to taking the driving test with a State Trooper at the DPS.

Our SIX HOUR permit preparation course covers the Texas Driver Handbook including road signs and road rules. Our class ensures that you will pass the permit test.

The Permit Test is given at the end of the class at the Houston Driving School by our instructors. Students may opt to take the test in English or Spanish. Students will also be given an eye exam. Once the student has passed both the test and the eye exam, all documents will be forwarded to the DPS for final processing. You will receive your permit from the Houston Driving School in 3 business days.

Please bring to class with you:
- Texas ID or US passport
- Social Security card or social security affidavit (will be issued by the Houston Driving School if you do not have a Social Security card)
- If you are from abroad or out of state you may use: passport, out of state ID, voter registration card, shot records, or school ID
Adult Driving Lessons
We offer driving lessons to adults over the age of 18 needing to learn how to operate a vehicle. Our instructors will teach you how to control your vehicle, drive defensively, make left and right turns correctly, parallel parking, and much more.
All driving instruction is done in a Houston Driving School vehicle. Every student must have an instructional permit and take a final road test with a State Trooper at the DPS to get their final license.
The Houston Driving School recommends that each student take as many hours as necessary to feel comfortable taking the final road test and operating a vehicle on his or her own. Anyone under the age of 18 must take a state approved driver education course to qualify for a license.
Your lesson begins when the instructor arrives at your location. Registration and payment for lessons and pick ups must be made before the day of the lesson. You can come by our office to pay in person or pay online. If buying hourly lessons, the minimum you can buy is 2 hours.
3 session x 2 hours (6 hours total) = $259 - Only $43.16 an hour (BEST DEAL)
2 session x 2 hours (4 hours total) = $183 - Only $45.75 an hour

Don't have a car? We will come pick you up and take you home anywhere in the Houston area(inside of the Beltway 8 Loop) for only an additional $25 (outside of Beltway 8 Loop is $35 per round trip). Students who live within 2 miles of our office can be picked up and returned home for FREE!
You can call us to schedule your driving appointments at 713-551-2073. Please have your receipt with you to give to the instructor. Payment FOR ALL services including any picks up must be made before your lessons will be scheduled.
Corporate Packages:
The Houston Driving School offers driving lessons for companies who want to teach their personnel safe driving habits and for personnel from out of the country who need driving lessons. Contact us for schedule and pricing.
Driving Test at DPS Office
Once you have your driving permit and feel comfortable operating a vehicle, you must take a road test with a State Trooper in order to obtain your license.
Don't have a car? We will provide you ours to take your road test. Just schedule your appointment with the DPS, call us and let us know the time and we will meet you there. If you need, we will come and pick you up anywhere in the Houston area (inside of the Beltway 8 Loop) for only an additional $25 (outside of Beltway 8 Loop is $35 per round trip). If you are not a student of our school (ie - have not had driving lessons with us) you must purchase a minimum of 2 hours of driving lessons in order to use this service. Please see above for information about driving lessons.
FEE: $120
Payment must be made before your scheduled test. You can pay online or stop by our office in person Monday - Friday from 4pm - 7pm. Additional time can be paid for on the day of the test. Please contact us for more information at 713-551-2073.

The Adult Training Complete Package includes the three portions adults (over age 18) need to obtain a Texas Driver's License. The package includes the three portions described above.
